Okay

honestly? Ngl all this talk of ancestors and how new guys name has just been dubbed Wrightcestor like
All I think of Homestuck
With the trolls ancestors and such
And dancestors

that’s all I’m thinkin of

are we talking about writecestor's name??? really all i'm getting from it is that they took "ryuuichi" and made it into an older sounding name (anything ~nosuke just gives me a really old vibe, doubly so since anything ~suke is a pretty stereotypical dude's name). i don't think i could come up with many concrete examples rn, but that convention seems to be common with ancestor/descendant pairs, where the first kanji is the same (even in dnangel, daisuke's grandpa is named daiki)

You can be the only one who listens to Night Vale too

But if I’m the only one who listens to Nigh Vale
And you’re the only one who listens to Night Vale

Then who’s watching the One Piece

on a side note, like 90% of japanese names have similar parts to them bc they all use the same kanji

They do! True true.

So aapollojustiice was texting me and asked I should put it online so —

"OKAY BUT this new characters FIRST name is a portmanteau name of their FIRST names, which have little relevance in most societies. In Japane it’s written last name first name: Naruhodou Ruuyichi, Naruhodou Minuki. SECOND Apollo Justice isn’t Apollo’s birthname; he’s a Gramarye. Also even if they are related, it wouldn’t be closely. First name portmanteau would be a combination of the mother and fathers name, and the fathers fathers name, as they’re patrilineal iirc In other words this guys name is something like Phoenpollo and his grandfathers are Phoenix and Apollo"

I’m not too knowledgeable about how naming works in most places [I’m just used to English class’ ‘suggestive nomenclature’ teachings], but taking the fathers name is something that’s seen a lot, if I’m not mistaken.

Hmmmm…. If they ever translate it then it’d be interesting to see what they do. I’m still holding out they call him Nike if they ever translate it

I’m sorry you had to find out this way, but every ace attorney character is trans. Every single one. All of them. Phoenix Wright? Trans. Mia Fey? Trans. Klavier Gavin? Super mega trans. Athena Cykes? Trans. Pearl Fey? Trucy Wright? Dick Gumshoe? Robin Newman? Franziska Von Karma? You guessed it. All trans.
